The Land of The Freeze and Home of the Burning Furniture..
Thought I was watching footage of Africa, except for the cold conditions. Or, scenes from Russia after the fall of the Soviet Union, with people stuck in long lines hoping to find food and water in empty grocery stores.
Who would have thought that people would have to stand in line in a park to draw water from a public pipe to fill containers of all shapes, sizes, and materials? Or that people would be forced to boil water, but can only do so with garden grills using bottled gas or charcoal? Or heat a house by burning their furniture?
Giant was a film about Texas, because the people thought/think they are great. Everything is thought to be bigger and better. The state produces the most energy, but only wants to make money for a few. Hook ‘em Horns.
The only state that was a “republic” before joining the United States as a “state” still thinks its special. The does not want to partake in many of the benefits of the nation, but does let its senators block things other states might want. And, when things fall apart because of their own stupidity and corruption, they have no shame asking the federal government to bail them out.
Well, now Texas has shown the world how great it is, almost as great as Africa.
