Wood and stone are still basic building materials in Swiss villages. Wood has yet to be replaced by too much plastic and other synthetic materials, which gives rooms a much different feel. Woodcarving is still a common craft, although such craftsmen have died out in the rest of the modern world.
Much of the food is locally produced, so milk, butter, cheese, and bread all taste better. I have been coming to this valley periodically for decades. Little has changed, but the food still tastes the same and tastes better than what finds in supermarkets.
Life might be simpler, but some might call that better...
Prior to writing novels, the author enjoyed a multifaceted career: from decorated combat aviator to advertising professional to global communications director of a major consumer brand.
