Marjorie Taylor Greene Attacks Biden’s Plan for Free Preschool: “I Refuse to Go”
By Andy Borowitz
WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene lambasted President Biden’s proposal for free preschool by declaring, “I refuse to go.”
Speaking to reporters, the Georgia congresswoman called preschool “just another form of mind control” and said that she would rather “hold my breath until I turn blue” than attend such a school.
“Joe Biden would like nothing better than to see me sitting on a colorful rug, singing, ‘Do you know what time it is?’ ” she said. “I’ll tell you what time it is. It’s time for him and George Soros to stop thinking that I’m going to preschool, because I’m not, and no one can make me.”
Greene also said that she had “serious concerns” about the indoctrination she would have received had she gone to preschool, as Biden wished.
“Sorry, Joe Biden, but the wheels on the bus do not go round and round, all through the town,” she said. “That’s a hoax.”
As I stood in line at Dulles Airport, waiting the submit myself to the standard indignity imposed upon innocent travellers, I thought about how men are sitting in caves in Afghanistan or luxury accommodation in Dubai paid for by US taxpayers that are laughing at all the folks forced to take off their shoes to be allowed to board and airplane.
Flying during a pandemic is still possible. There are even some advantages, along with all the added aggravations. Lines are shorter. Some planes have less passengers, so there is more privacy. But, to travel between countries, one must carefully consider the conditions. First of all, is one even permitted to enter the country. Most require a negative Covid test no older than 48 hours, which cost $250. For a round trip, most are paying more for tests than they are for their tickets. The test result is check more thoroughly and more often than passports. After picking up bags from the carousel in Frankfurt, one must pass through customs checks. The officers were not interested in our stuffed and excessive number of bags; all they wanted to see was documentation about the negative test, which had already been checked at three previous stages.
And, wearing a mask from arrival at the airport in a rental car, in the shuttle bus, throughout the airport, in the plane, and in the arrival airport—for a total of about nine hours—is not the most pleasant experience one can have. Of course, that is better than the alternative, but one wonders if one’s vaccination is not enough….
It is interesting to note that Republicans and conservative media claim that any increase in taxes on people, who have been increasing income and wealth disparity, is a “Raid” on the rich. None seem concerned about the unfairness of middle and lower classes paying more than their fair share to the common good. They seem to think that people with too much money will suffer if they are unable to increase their often obscene wealth, but have no concern for people who can barely pay for food and housing even with more than one job.
Flying is possible…for some people. Those lucky enough to be permitted still must face hurdles—bureaucratic and monetary. One cannot board an international flight without presenting a certificate attesting to not having a virus infection. Some countries require another test upon arrival. What is never mention in the official rules is the cost. One test at Dulles Airport cost $250, surely shocking to budget travellers. And, all passenger must wear a mask in the terminal and for the entire flight, except when eating.
All in all, the procedures are a pain, but things ran without a hitch. One is happy to have been able to travel, to see something new after over a year of restriction, and have a glimmer of hope for better days.
Trump Blasts Biden for Firing Almost No One in First Hundred Days
PALM BEACH (The Borowitz Report)—Unsparing in his criticism of the President, Donald J. Trump blasted Joe Biden for firing almost no one in his first hundred days.
“It took me barely over a week to fire Sally Yates, and by March I’d axed forty-six U.S. attorneys,” he said. “I hit the ground running and I never looked back.”
At the rate Biden is going, Trump said, “He’s going to be looking across his desk at the same losers the entire time he’s in office.”
In another alleged failure of Biden’s first hundred days, Trump ripped the President for having picked “no fights whatsoever” with TV celebrities.
“It’s almost like he doesn’t even watch TV,” Trump said. “What does he do all day?”
Today, we drove through South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia. This was a Sunday morning, so one would expect church parking lots to be full, given that it seems as though every second building is a church.
Not the case. Many churches appeared to be closed or with only a car or two parked outside. A few had many cars. Perhaps there is an over-supply of churches, with brand and personal appeal attracting the most “customers”. Maybe recent reports of declining church attendance and increase in atheism are correct.
Although I did see a sign in Virginia stating that this was “god’s country”, maybe not everyone got the message.
Have you noticed that all candidates for Top 10 Worst Human Beings are all Republican politicians? That should tell you something. Too bad Republican voters aren’t smart enough to recognise this simple fact.
