I want to make something clear. I am not an activist (or in official, 1984-esque jargon: a troublemaker). I rant, but do not plan or want to change the world.
I observe or read about disturbing aspects of human existence and treatment of each other. I do not expect people to change, because I am realistic enough to know that I cannot bring about even minor change...and I might even make things worse, if I tried or were permitted to try. Of course, if some instances, it is hardly possible to make things worse.
I know that forces of human society are too entrenched, too self-interested, and too powerful to ever want to improve the lot of those less fortunate. That would require empathy, sacrifice, and generosity, which are all traits unknown to these people. Life is not fair, and lucky ones see no reason to change that. On the contrary, many work to make life even less fair.
I will continue to observe and read...and occasionally rant about what upsets me. No one has to read it, much less like it or agree with it.
