It’s official: some people do not like to hear the truth and have no sense of humor.
This morning, I read headlines and an article about last night’s Oscar presentation. The host, Seth MacFarlane, was criticized. Well, I criticize anyone who found fault with his performance. Whoever reached that conclusion has no sense of humor.
I watched a taped version of the show and enjoyed everything except the usual boring bits, which recur each year. I especially appreciated the irreverence. I liked the humor. And, I enjoyed the musical numbers. I am a fan of Seth MacFarlane, who did a better job--in my opinion--that the much-praised Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
I see that Academy Awards is beneficiary of the Wizard of Oz treatment. Some Dorothy has been peeking behind the curtain and revealed—surprise!—that people voting for the Oscar winners are mostly male, white, and older. Duh!
Hypocrisy has bubbled to the surface of the swamp once again in the country, which is the porn capital of the world and has given humanity Hooters and lap dancing.
It seems that people are “upset” about two dresses, which graced the Academy Awards ceremony. Angelina Jolie displayed more leg than many would like to deny admiring, but less than one can see most television programs. Jennifer Lopez had the audacity to upset women, who are forced to confront unattractive faces in mirrors, by sporting a dress that lacked fabric on her sternum. People, whose brains have been pickled by too much pornography, imagined seeing a portion of her anatomy that should be revealed only to feeding infants. More intelligent voices suggest that it was a shadow, but who wants to listen to intelligent voices.
All this would be amusing, if it were not so tragic. Next year, the Academy should hand out awards for hypocrisy and preempt the fuss.
