I scan a few British newspapers each day, not because I am a big fan of Britain or the British. Each has the distinct advantage of being printed in English, albeit a bastardized form. The news of England does not interest me, because I do not live there, but these media often have good articles on a wide range of subjects. Many writers are excellent.
Unfortunately, I cannot avoid the salivating over the “royal” family. I do not understand why anyone is interested in the private life of a bunch of spoiled and privileged morons. Of course, a great deal of this is driven by the “firm”, as they call themselves, which uses the latest PR techniques to drum up interest and fervor.
P.T. Barnum is supposed to have said something about fools being born each minute. The birthrate of people interested in this foolishness is high.
_ Man is a dumb animal. This is proven day-in, day-out by politicians around the world, particularly in the United States of Evangelical Christians. How do I know? I merely read and/or watch news reports.
Yesterday, a disturbing (more than usual) item in some news crawl caught my attention. My first reaction was: “Oh, no!” Then I thought about what I wrote above. This is almost to be expected from arrogant, ignorant, and paranoid politicians seeking votes and media attention. The item reported a statement by Senator McCain—the one intelligent enough to chose Sarah Palin to be Vice President. It seems that he wants the US Government to provide arms to Syrian opposition. I guess that he did not notice/learn about how well such a plan worked out for his country, when they provided arms to opposition to Russian occupation in Afghanistan in the 80’s.It must not enter his pea brain that such weapons can also be turned on his friends in Israel, which borders on Syria, but that would require rational thought.
Like I wrote above: dumb animal...
