Everyone that heard we planned to vacation in Florida were unanimous in their reaction: "It's so hot!"
It has been warm, but it has been also very moist. It has rained most days of the first week, and today is dark and rainy. At least it is warm, and the sun has made extended visits. We can still swim, making us even wetter. Rain during a vacation in the mountains is unpleasant; here it is not so bad. Many do not even bother with an umbrella, knowing that they will dry off quickly. It's tough on the homeless, many of which seem to also vacation in Miami.
We planned to read books, so we do it on the terrace and not on the beach. It is less sandy. Fortunately, we have a large penthouse (look forward to a hotel review at the end). The upper deck does not get used much, but it offers a view of South Beach on good days.
At the moment, I hear thunder rumbling, as warm tropical moisture from the Caribbean flows over the coast. I feel sorry for the folks standing in line at Disney World. Unruly and disappointed kids are bad enough: wet ones are worse.
Later, we will take an umbrella and window-shop on Lincoln Road, enjoy the warm temperature, and avoid sun burn...
