Today I was reminded of a reason to travel to the United States: cottage cheese.
Occasionally, I like to eat fruit and cottage cheese. I can do this only in the country of my birth (or a rare treat from a military commissary). Cottage cheese in Germany tastes like chalk, so I have not tasted it more than once.
Thinking about this, I recall a book (or maybe only a saying) from the ’70’s or ’80’s that said “Real Men Do Not Eat Quiche”. These same folks would probably include cottage cheese to this sentiment. This does not bother me, because I enjoy both and have never suffered feelings of inadequacy in the gender department.
