I found a disturbing article in today’s Guardian (no US publication would write such an exposé), attracted by a provocative headline and subhead.
Roger Ailes and the rise of Fox News
Even Rupert Murdoch is afraid of Roger Ailes, the paranoid boss of Fox News. But 'the Chairman' is using his power to make Americans more rightwing, more ignorant and ever more terrified
I started to read the article, but stopped after a few paragraphs. I became too angry to continue. Because Fox makes huge profits (and coddles legislators), no one challenges the potential danger to society of a once-great country. He/it are playing a major role in stripping political power from the masses (see post “Depressing”).
One of most detrimental decisions of Congress was to change the law (during Reagan’s time, of course) that required broadcasters to give equal time to all sides of any issue. That gave rise to radical radio blowhards…and Fox News. It permits various cretins to roam free and prey upon the weak and the stupid…for their profit and the hell with what they destroy along the way.
