I shouldn’t be thinking about such matters, but I read an article that piqued a thought...
The US government was built with a system of “checks and balances”. That might have been a good idea at conception, as a means of avoiding the evils of royalty and aristocracy. Unfortunately, buyable politicians and judges have created paralysis and made a mockery of every check and put the whole deal out of balance.
If the same principle were used in constructing an automobile, whereby the brake and the accelerator were built to check and balance each other, then no vehicle would move.
