_ I thought more about what I wrote yesterday.
The idea of destroying children’s futures in order to make profit brought to mind scenes from the film, Slumdog Millionaire. In India, children are mutilated to better beg for alms...which are collected and enjoyed by the mutilators. How is that different from damaging a child’s mental development? One difference is that the money is collected up front. Another is that perpetrators must never wield the knife (or acid), while facing the child. What remains similar is the indifference to the fate of anyone less-fortunate.
NB. Once again, I am not a communist or a socialist or a revolutionary. I believe in competition, but with transparent rules, fair play, and reasonable treatment of losers.
